School Meals
We offer all our pupils nutritionally balanced meals with plenty of fruit and vegetables. This ensures that they are healthy, happy and able to concentrate and therefore learn. We have long appreciated that food affects behaviour. Our packed lunch people are requested to avoid lots of salty crisps and sugary cakes/biscuits although we agree that a little sugar and salt is fine.

The British Land Chess Challenge 2010
Thirty pupils from Y4 and 5 are participating in a Chess tournament. There will be an overall trophy winner although we have reminded players that taking part is important whether you win or lose. Many players are new to the game so learning to play chess has been a great achievement. We are proud of their interest and commitment.
HOST
Would your family enjoy getting to know someone from another country? HOST is looking for volunteer families who would like to offer an invitation to an international student at a UK university. The student would probably be in his or her 20's, and would speak English. A HOST visit typically includes chatting, cooking and eating together, perhaps joining in some community event, and an outing into the local area for a weekend. It is an opportunity for cultural exchange and making friends across international boundaries. HOST is a well-established national charity, backed by the Foreign Office, which has been active in Yorkshire for 23 years. For more information see www.hostuk.org or call Sue Binns, the voluntary organiser in N Yorkshire, on 01845 524846.
